China – Brief Description
China’s accession to World Trade Organization (WTO) granted more foreign trading rights to domestic private enterprises, lowered import barriers, and allowed private companies greater freedom to operate. Furthermore, with such entry, China’s service sector was considerably liberalized and foreign investment was permitted, eliminating the previous restrictions imposed on retail, wholesale and distribution. Foreign investment was also allowed in banking, financial services, insurance and telecommunications in China. These have attracted greater attention from foreign investors considering to form a company in China.
This notwithstanding, China is still a place with both opportunities and risks in the eyes of most investors due to various factors such as its political and cultural backgrounds.
